Boot Camp Field Notes

When we were expecting we took every class regarding birthing and childcare offered by our care provider. Well, I didn’t take breastfeeding and Mommy was not allowed to take Daddy Boot Camp. While I found Daddy Boot Camp lacking in the information department, it was a great forum to share my worries and fears about becoming a father.

Every month I receive follow-up newsletters called “Field Notes.” They’re a good brush-up and synopsis of babies’ development in that perticular month. It also has information about what the mothers are going through so we (dads) can know when to be affectionate and when we should back off. This month’s Field Notes features an article by Doug Gertner, Ph.D. titled, “Deprived of Doing it.” I’m sure you can figure out the gist of the article by the title, but I wanted to share one excerpt I found particularly interesting:

“Research has determined that dads who are highly involved in the daily care of their children actually have more satisfying sex lives than fathers who don’t participate actively in such care.”

So I got that goin’ for me
